NJ Careless Driving Statute

N.J.S.A. 39:4–97. Careless driving

A person who drives a vehicle carelessly, or without due caution and circumspection, in a manner so as to endanger, or be likely to endanger, a person or property, shall be guilty of careless driving.

NJ Careless Driving Penalty Statute

N.J.S.A. 39:4-104. Violations of article; penalty

A person violating a section of this article shall, for each violation, be subject to a fine of not less than $50.00 or more than $200.00, or imprisonment for a period not exceeding 15 days, or both, except as herein otherwise provided.
